LoveLetters.mp3 is a way to share stories and spotlight all things local music scene and its significance in the lives of those part of it.
We hope to bring you the importance of the Australian music scene across the very diverse communities that make it up, including artists, bands, fans, producers, venues and others. Looking at the significant role music plays in their lives in ways previously ignored or overlooked.
Whether it’s looking at how we undervalue mothers’ music tastes compared to fathers’, or how music has allowed local artists to express specific versions of themselves, or why we listen to sad music or how independent artists remain so passionate about their work, we plan to cover it all.
Kind of like a love letter to music.
Bella Jessen
creator • writerBella has been playing gigs with friends since she was 15, drawing her into the local scene ever since. She’s used her passion for music and local scene experience to host and produce radio shows (Music Matters on 3CR and The Hoist on SYN), as well as starting up her own blog and podcast LoveLetters.mp3. Bella is inspired by hearing others’ stories about how music has shaped their lives, their creativity and passion, and even more so uplifting these stories through radio, podcasting and music journalism. She hopes to continue uplifting unheard voices in the local scene, investigating our connection to music in ways previously ignored and getting others to care about the importance of the local scene and music.
