Bringing a touch of magic and whimsy with her, Eadiella is forging her own path in the local folk scene and embracing this adventure with her emotionally-charged and introspective indie-pop folk tunes. Eadiella has always been writing music in her spare time, using music’s strong connection to feeling and identity as a method of processing and working through her own emotions. She began her journey into music performance and release after realising that others may benefit from music emotionally the same way she does; therefore, by publishing her feelings and music she hopes it will help other people feel understood and connected to certain experiences and ideas the same way she does. Even encouraging others to welcome reinvention and change the way she has by starting her music performance journey. So far, she has released 3 singles over the past three months that show off her enchanting magical forest aesthetic as well as her deeply personal and vulnerable connection to music.

In July of this year, Eadiella released her first single Wishing Well, which explores a really intimate reflection of the artist’s struggling to accept past mistakes as well as the change and good coming her way. Focusing on how so often the only thing standing in your way is yourself, speaking to such a common issue we all feel about figuring out who we are and the conflicting feelings about what we deserve that come with this. For a first release, Wishing Well really cements Eadiella as an artist who isn’t going to be shying away from exploring quite personal and vulnerable aspects of herself and life in her work. Another aspect that makes this such a great first release is the composition and style that make it uniquely Eadiella’s. Reflecting the magical, whimsical and nature-focused aesthetics through the glittery embellishments, the airy acoustic guitar with her rich yet delicate voice, and powerful drums. When I first listened to this track, the style really reminded me of Florence and The Machine. Furthermore, she emphasises her style and aesthetic through the lyrics’ mention of “lady bugs and four-leaf clovers” and “dream catchers and horseshoes” as well as the enchanting cover art of Eadiella dressed in a whimsical forest fairy dress next to a wishing well. And I wouldn’t expect anything less for a song written in the garden next to a windchime, showing the amount of care and thought she had put into the creation and style of herself as an artist and her music.
Eadiella continues these themes and ideas in her next, more grittier and rock-inspired single, Prison Guard, released in August. Prison Guard compliments Wishing Well through continuing the exploration of belonging and self-restricting beliefs by discussing once again how Eadiella feels that sometimes she is the only person standing in her way. Letting her fears of going out, doing different things and being all that she could (such as starting music!), get in the way of her own success and life and ultimately, her frustration with this as heard by the heavier dynamics. Which I’m so sure is a familiar feeling to so many people, including myself. Eadiella really drives home the point during the final chorus of the song, in which a build-up of dynamics, instrumentation, overlapping vocals and harmonies represent the constant suffocating noise of these self-limiting thoughts and beliefs. Finally reaching a climax in which the song ends on a softer stripped-back version of the chorus, highlighting how these thoughts are always going to be part of you, but you can choose to put them in the background of your thoughts and drown them out. Once again, continuing this very intimate and truthful sharing of her own issues and experiences as a way of connecting with others who feel similar. Using music as a means of not only processing her own emotions, but sharing them and encouraging others to also feel.

Wild Things, is Eadiella’s newest release put out last friday, and personally, is my favourite because I think it really captures her enchanting indie-pop folk style. The mix of reverbed acoustic guitar strumming and plucking along with crunchy reverb synth/keys and the faint additions of texture through the rustling of trees and birds chirping creates a peaceful atmosphere that immediately captures your attention and transports you somewhere else entirely. In addition, Eadiella’s vocals and harmonies hold a real emotional power in Wild Things, driving home her frustration and pain in not feeling like she belongs or knowing where she belongs. Continuing on similar themes from Wishing Well and Prison Guard, Wild Things explores societal pressures and toxic online culture, as seen especially in the bridge that lists the different “pretty types” that have come about on TikTok on Instagram. Eadiella explained “This song holds how I felt for a lot of my life. It was really hard for me to find my place in this world and sometimes I still want to run away to the forest.” I really admire her choice to explore toxic online culture and its effect on identity and belonging, bringing attention to how the hundreds of strict identity boxes created through these aesthetics are so limiting yet also overwhelming. Capturing and describing this common feeling of wanting to leave everything behind to live wild and freely and just be you, not a certain type of girl or aesthetic. And overall, as Eadiella has said, the song is perfect for long drives with the windows down, and I reckon for somewhere in a quiet and peaceful forest-y area.
Eadiella’s folk music journey is only just beginning, and there is heaps more in store. Later this year, she’ll be releasing her next single Breath You and rumour has it an accompanying music video with a whimsical dream sequence, an animate ballerina box and according to Eadiella “a whole lot of yearning”. Additionally, all of these singles will be gearing up for an exciting indie-folk/country-pop album release later next year in 2026.
